Last semester's results are finally out! Whenever the result is out, it is not a happy moment for every student because not every student performs too well. what is even more annoying is that your colleagues who you wouldn't like to see your result gets to see your performance. "Students results are meant for one person alone" says a colleague called Michael.
Although my last semester results were good, I am also not a fan of pasting results on the notice board with everyone's eyeballs focused on the grades. While there may be some reasons for this, there are also a lot more reasons why each student should check his or her result in the portal.
Knowing your Grade Point.
One thing I really like about checking results online is that you get to know your grade point for each semester and you can calculate your cumulative grade point by adding all your grade points and dividing it by the number of semesters you have been through.
This will help you to know whether you are in first class, second class upper, second class lower, third class or pass divisions.
Printed results on the notice boards are not such a good idea in this regard since all you get to see is your grade without knowing your GP (Grade point). It may surprise you to know that some Wisconsin students don’t know their GP.
This is because they have been seeing their results on the notice board and some of them don't even know how to check their results online. Wisconsin is a business school and an IT college as well. students should not flinch whenever they want to check their results online. In fact, that is the only thing they should ever know about.
Getting your Privacy.
The Wisconsin Student OSIS offers you privacy at its very best. You don't need anybody to see your result for you unless you want them to. Checking your results online offers you the privacy you need. It is one of the interesting things about checking your results online.
Printed results on the notice boards will never offer you any privacy. If I want to check your result, I will only need to worry about your index number which is not something to be worried about because one can easily know your index number.
Personally, I think every student should be given access to their online results at any moment they desire to see it. Students should be allowed to check their results online with the students Wifi and not the lecturers' Wifi. Every student should be able to know their GP and get the privacy he or she deserves.
