How Students can Password Protect their USB Flash Drive in University Campus

Do you know that you can protect your pen drives (USB flash drives with a password)? You can hide away your top secret info and protect them with a password. The importance of this hack cannot be overemphasized.

It is a breakthrough for those of us that would like to give out their flash drives but would not like people to have access to personal files or virus to attack the files. Before we continue I would like to warn you that if you forget your password, you will never have access to your files again.
It will be in your best interest to keep your password in a secured place. With this I think we are ready to get started.

Introducing SanDisk Secure Access:

This hack does not work with all USB flash drives. You need to buy SanDisk flash drives for this to work for you. SanDisk USB flash drives comes with a software SanDisk SecureAccess that gives your flash drive the safety and flexibility it needs.

When you buy a new SanDisk USB flash drive, you will see these two files below, that is if you have not formatted the flash drive….

One is an executional file, while the other is a folder that contains documentation about the SanDisk SecureAccess. The RunSanDiskSecureAccess_Win.exe is the file you will click on if you wish to install SanDisk SecureAccess.

You will not see these files in other flash drives except SanDisk. You can give it a try and share your experience here if you discover otherwise… for now we are sticking with SanDisk because that is what I have used and it works for me.

How Does SanDisk Secure Access Work.
SanDisk SecureAccess is a fast, simple way to store and protect critical and sensitive files on any SanDisk® USB flash drive. Create a private vault for your top secret info and simply drag-and-drop your valuable files inside the private vault.

Whenever you insert the USB flash drive on computers that is not your own(public computers or laptops), you will see files that are outside the private vault you created for your files but you will never see the files inside the private vault.

However, when you insert the SanDisk USB flash drive on your own computer, you will be prompted with a window that will ask you to login to your vault (private files).

What is even more amazing is the fact that you can store these files in your flash drive and a guest user of your flash drive will have no idea of the contents inside it.

The screenshot below will help illustrate what I mean, as they say, an image is worth more than a thousand words.

SanDisk SecureAccess have a promotional features that are running for you. Since we are trying this out for the first time, skip the promotion. You will always be prompted with this window, so you can register later if you think it is a good idea.

Once you click on Skip, you will be taken to a login in window. Enter the password you created while installing the SanDisk SecureAccess software on your machine. Once you provide the correct password, you will be taken to your private vault.

Access to your vault is always protected that your personal password, and your files are automatically encrypted. So even if you share your SanDisk USB flash drive or it becomes lost or stolen, access to your files are safe.

On my vault, I have my tutorials videos that I named Gabby Videos, and Work Notebook. Your own vault will contain a different thing. If you have not added anything to your vault, you can copy the file and paste on your vault or drag and drop the files into your vault or use the Add Files buttons.

Please note that, when you open files from your vault, it becomes ready only. You can only edit the files outside the vault and then drag it into your vault or paste it into your vault again. SanDisk SecureAccess will update the files automatically once they have the same file names.

Try this out, if you encounter any difficulties along the line, please leave a comment. I will be glad to work you through this. Or you can call me on this line 0249981153, if you are in WIUC. I will meet with you for a one on one teaching and setup for only a small fee.
