Five Students Received Distinction Awards from WAEC for Excellence in 2013 WASSCE Examination in Ghana.

Waec honours five students for excellence in 2013 waec examination

Five students have received the 2013 West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE) Distinction Awards. The ceremony was organized in Accra and was sponsored by the West African Examination Council (WAEC) Endowment Fund and the Merchant Bank.

The students who won the award are:
Ms Ivy Ama Mannoh
Ms Rhoda Adu-Boafo, both are old students of Wesley Girls’ Senior High School, Ghana.
Master Dery Mwinmaarong Lucio schooled at St Francis Xavier Jnr Seminary SHS in Wa, Ghana.

The students Ms Ivy Ama MannohRhoda Adu-Boafo and Master Dery Mwinmaarong Lucio, won the first, second and third prizes respectively.


Ms Mannoh, who is currently Studying Medicine at the University of Ghana Medical School, Legon was the overall best and received the sum of $250 from  the West African Examination Council (WAEC) and another $250 from the Ghana national office of WASSCE. She also received the sum of  GH¢1000.00 from the Deputy Minister of Education, Mr Alex Kyeremeh, a certificate and a scholarship package from Merchant Bank Limited.

Ms Adu-Boafo and Master Lucio,  received the sum of $250 each, a certificate and plaque for their alma mater. They were honoured for their excellent performance at the national and international levels.

Two other students who scored distinctions in their various subjects of specialty received certificates, the sum of  $250 from WAEC and a plaque each for their alma mater.

The two other students are:
  Ms Winifred Ruby Amakye, who completed from Wesley Girls’ Senior High School, Ghana
Ms Deborah Aba Gaisee, who completed Holy Child Senior High School, Ghana.
The plaque was presented to the alma mater of the award winners, for producing excellent students.
