The president of Nigeria, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has honored the Nigerian flag designer, Pa Taiwo Akinkunmi and also placed him on a lifetime salary that must be in line with what any Senior Special Advisers earns.
He was decorated as an officer of the Order of the Federal Republic, OFR, by the president on September 29th 2014, about 55 years after he designed the flag.
Personally, I think this is a very good move made by the president. No other president of Nigeria has thought of honoring the man in such a way. It must have been a very happy and proud moment for him.
